Local Community Planning in Auchmithie

Consultation is currently (Summer 2005) taking place on an extension of the coastal path to Auchmithie and a package of works in Auchmithie (dependent on successful funding bids), to include off-street parking and a 7-aside kick-about area to the rear of the village hall, modest upgrading of visitor access to the harbour, and provision of visitor signage and interpretation.

A copy of the relevant Angus Council committee report is available at the following address: http://www.angus.gov.uk/ccmeetings/reports-committee2005/infrastructure/694.pdf

These proposals address a number of the priorities previously identified. For more details, or comments, contact Roy Madden on 01307 473540.

Background information

……….These were the questions addressed by a partnership event hosted by Angus Council in Auchmithie Village Hall on the afternoon of Sunday 2 November 2003, as the first step in finding out what local people think and how they would like to be involved in possible areas for development. Around 40 local people attended, with the majority of those hoping to get further involved in shaping the future of the village.

The meeting was very positive, with a wide range of suggestions and some initial priorities recorded and included in the December newsletter below, which was circulated to all households in the village.

The April newsletter below provided follow-up information on some of the issues that were circulated in April 2004.

An Arts and Heritage group has been set up (The HAAR). For further information, including copies of The Haar’s own newsletter, contact Davina Campbell on (01241) 877879)
