Local Community Planning

Community Planning is the term used to describe a range of activity which is intended to:

This community planning work takes place both on an Angus-wide basis and locally.

Kirriemuir & Dean Local Community Planning Team

This Angus Council Team assists communities and groups to contribute to the planning of public services for their area, and to contribute to wider policy discussions.

The Team also helps local groups to initiate and run local projects to improve community life. This help is available to a wide range of groups, e.g. village hall committees, out of school care clubs, local action groups and registered tenants organisations.

The Team undertake localised community appraisals and also conduct local visioning exercise to help create an agreed vision which can inform service planning.

Local Area Profile

The Community Profile (500 KB PDF) provides a summary of facts, figures and trends in your community, to help people and organisations to understand and anticipate change. The Community Profile will be updated in 2012.

Local Community Plan

The Local Community Plan (1.5 MB PDF) provides an overview of planned developments in services in the area and an outline of the community's aspirations and priorities. The Local Community Plan will be updated in 2013.

Community Councils

There are seven Community Councils in the Kirriemuir and Dean ward:

The Community Councils work to represent the views of their particular area. This covers any matters seen locally to be of importance and also includes a specific role in commenting on local planning issues.

Local Elected Members

The three councillors for the Kirriemuir and Dean ward represent the community on Angus Council. Councillors also represent Angus Council on a range of other bodies which provide services in Angus.

Kirriemuir Children's and Learning Partnership

Draws together a range of agencies concerned with services for young people and educational provision for the whole community.

Kirriemuir and Dean Local Community Safety Partnership

Draws together a range of agencies working locally to improve community safety.

Annual Housing Consultation Roadshow

This annual event provides groups and individuals with an opportunity to discuss developments in housing provision and management in their areas, and contribute to policy discussions. This forms one part of an overall approach to Tenant Participation in Angus.
