Angus Community Planning
Community Engagement
The Angus Community Planning Partnership has identified community engagement as a major area of activity. "Engaging our communities" is one of six key priority areas identified in the 2007-2012 Community Plan.
In its Active Citizenship Strategic Statement (70 KB PDF) the Angus Community Planning Partnership states that
"Community planning partners should ... make arrangements, singly or jointly, as appropriate, to engage regularly in open and realistic dialogue with citizens and service users in order to build stronger communities and provide services which respond effectively to the needs, aspirations and priorities of local communities."
Here you will find current national and local information that will assist you in planning and carrying out community engagement activities.
For details of community engagement events in your area, visit the Have Your Say section on the Angus Council website.
Whether you are a large agency or a smaller community group we would like to hear from you how you get on in your endeavours to encourage individual citizens to take a more active and more direct role in the decision-making processes that affect their lives, communities and work places. Let us know about your community engagement exercises by emailing us at communityplanning@angus.gov.uk.
Get Involved
What would make Angus a better place to live in? Contact the Angus Community Planning Partnership and give us your thoughts.
Angus Community Planning Partners provide numerous opportunities for members of the public to contribute to the work that they do. This section provides details of current research and consultation exercises, many of which you can comment on, and those that have been completed in recent years. They also provide links to Scottish Executive consultations.
In addition to these exercises there are many other ways in which you can get involved. You can get in touch with your local Councillor, participate in Local Area Partnerships, contact your local Community Council, and comment on Planning Applications. The Community Learning and Development Service encourages community action and is central in helping young people participate. The Angus Council Consultation and Research page provides further information on the coordination of these various initiatives.
General feedback can be made via ACCESS Angus on 08452 777 778, or by contacting the Angus Community Planning Partnership.
