Local People Together
On Monday 20th April people involved in their local communities around Angus came together to share their experiences and successes. Hosted by the community planning team, those who give up their time to improve their local communities had a chance to meet other like-minded people from across the burghs and hear each others experiences.
Peter Stevens from Montrose Together spoke about the town's Fairtrade status and gave a brief outline of some of the work involved in becoming Angus's first Fairtrade town. He encouraged others to think about this campaign for their own towns and expressed a wish for Angus to become to become the first fair-trade county in Scotland.
Dr Andrina McCormack from the Monifieth Landward Partnership gave a presentation on the ingredients of their successful 'Monifieth in Booom' campaign which began an interesting discussion about the best way to water hanging baskets without hoses (a stick and an old milk/juice carton being the winner suggestion!!)
At the end of the evening and running out of time people expressed a wish to come together more often, to get to know each other, share problems and solutions as well as to become a stronger voice for change in local communities.
