Brechin Town Centre Regeneration Fund
Progress is being made in an effort to tap into some of the £40 million worth of funding which is available through the Scottish Government's Town Centre Regeneration Fund.
Angus Council, in partnership with numerous other voluntary bodies, including the City of Brechin and Area Partnership, has adopted a partnership approach, which it is hoped will prove successful, but at the same time has highlighted the fact there is no certainty of funding being made available.
The Scottish Government's Town Centre Regeneration Fund (£60m across Scotland) presents a one-off opportunity to attract additional funding for capital works within Local Plan defined Town Centres. The fund is only available for one year and closes on 31 March 2010. The Scottish Government has invited bids to this fund in two tranches, by June 5 and by August 21.
Over the past week council officials have contacted more local bodies in an effort to gain further support for the bid.
